PACU Registered Nurse (RN) | On-Call Float Pool

Job Requirements

Join the University of Maryland Capital Region Health team as a PACU Registered Nurse (RN) with our On-Call Float Pool, supporting our PACU unit and delivering high-quality patient care in a fast-paced perioperative environment.

The role provides and coordinates care within an assigned clinical specialty, supports quality and patient safety initiatives, and contributes to the professional development of nurses and other team members.

SCHEDULE/HOURS: 8:30 AM to 9:00 PM

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Provide independent nursing care to an assigned patient population.
• Coordinate patient care in collaboration with the interdisciplinary healthcare team.
• Serve as a clinical resource for nurses and other team members.
• Integrate evidence-based practices into clinical care.
• Support charge nurse decisions and perform the charge nurse role for assigned shifts as needed.
• Participate in performance improvement, evidence-based practice, research, and quality initiatives at the unit level.
• Support regulatory compliance and nursing-sensitive quality initiatives.
• Participate in the development and implementation of clinical practice protocols and standards.
• Serve as a preceptor, coach, and mentor to new nurses and students.
• Promote effective communication, teamwork, patient safety, and patient- and family-centered care.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

LICENSURE & EXPERIENCE:

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Maryland or Compact eligibility in accordance with MBON, required.
• Valid American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications, required.
• Minimum of 1 year of nursing experience required.
• Recent applicable clinical experience in a comparable setting required.
• Diploma in Nursing or Associate Degree in Nursing required.
• Demonstrated clinical knowledge, leadership skills, and ability to function as a charge nurse, preceptor, or clinical resource.
• Ability to effectively collaborate as part of a multidisciplinary team.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

This position may require weekend, shift work, on-call coverage, holidays, and overtime based on department needs.

COMPENSATION:

Flat Rate Pay: $52.76 per hour.

Shift, Weekend, and Holiday Differential Pay Where Applicable.
