About the Role and Responsibilities: McCourt Partners Real Estate is looking for an External Affairs Associate to join our team in Los Angeles. This new position will report directly to the SVP of External Affairs and assist in McCourt’s outreach initiatives through social impact in the Los Angeles region. Location: Must be LA based Responsibilities: * Help build organizing capacity in targeted communities. * Assist in conducting outreach in neighborhoods where projects are located and provide educational materials to individuals and families. * Support community engagement and outreach events. * Participate in community-based groups and attend day/evening meetings, with the potential for some weekend activities. * Help plan and ensure community participation at periodic meetings, community events, mobilizations, or other activities by conducting outreach and timely follow-up. * Participate in advocacy and organizing campaigns. * Represent the organization and its interests with different stakeholders. * Interact with a wide range of stakeholders with cultural humility, kindness, and patience. * Utilize direct action organizing tactics and implements grassroots advocacy tools to build constituent support for the organization’s priorities. * Maintain accurate documentation and evaluation of activities and provide appropriate feedback and reporting to senior management. * Provide administrative support to the External Affairs leadership in coordinating meetings, webinars, events, preparation for presentations, reports, correspondence, etc. in support of department initiatives * Provide virtual and in-person event support by coordinating logistics, such as vendors, supplies, promotional items. * Create a relationship of trust by delivering accessible, efficient, and reliable services and products for internal and external stakeholders. * Encourage open communication and build consensus. Use tact and discretion in dealing with sensitive information, and keep stakeholders informed of decisions and directives as appropriate. * Conduct business with an understanding and respect for the differences in customs, laws, regulations, and business operations among different jurisdictions and cultures. * Recognize personal bias and others’ tendency toward bias and takes measures to mitigate the influence of bias in business decisions. Requirements: * Bachelor's degree in political science, public policy, communications, business, social, human sciences, or a related field. 3-5 years of prior experience in community outreach, event planning, public speaking, or communication. * Demonstrates a strong understanding of the Los Angeles political and community service environment (e.g., community service leaders, partners, organizations, critical state-wide community service needs, legislative leaders, government officials, major stakeholders, etc.). * Previous government relations experience is strongly preferred. * Ability to communicate internally and externally to diverse audiences, with knowledge, tact, courtesy, and superior attention to detail. * Manage, organize, prioritize, and deliver on day-to-day tasks and longer-term projects, individually and as part of a fast-paced team. * Take direction, carry out assigned tasks, and where appropriate, develop new skills and systems. * Bilingual English/Spanish preferred, but not required. Compensation: The expected salary range for this position is $$85,000 - $100,000 annually. The actual salary offer will be determined on factors including the qualifications, experience, skills, and abilities of the applicant. This role is also eligible for an incentive bonus.
