Overview
The Community Outreach Specialist demonstrates expertise in cancers and in working with medically underserved populations and communities. The overall responsibility includes conducting cancer prevention education sessions to diverse populations, identifying new community-focused cancer education opportunities for medically underserved and at-risk populations, developing new community partnerships, and maintaining DFCI’s engagement in the community.
The Community Outreach Specialist works independently under the direction and guidance of a Senior Outreach Specialist. In this highly visible position, the Community Outreach Specialist will have a solid foundation of health disparities and barriers to care that our historically underserved populations face. The role represents DFCI in the community and builds strong partnerships with community-based agencies, city and state health departments, and internal and external health care providers and clinicians. These programs and initiatives are evaluated by the Specialists’ consistent and ongoing impact in the community, ability to meet department metrics and ability to maintain strong community relationships.
Spanish fluency is required for this position.
