Job Description Contributes to the university’s mission through teaching, research and service, some variation by academic unit. Functions as the Division Chief of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PMR). Provide clinical and administrative leadership of the PMR division in collaboration with the Orthopaedic Surgery department chair. Act as key liaison between the PMR division, the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, and PLFSOM and TTUHSC El Paso. Establish quality metrics for the PMR division. Establish annual staff physician goals and objectives in collaboration with individual physicians within their division. Evaluate the performance of the physicians in the division annually. Establish remediation plan for underperforming physicians. Establish and demonstrate effort to achieve annual division chief goals and objectives ( e.g. personal, divisional, and departmental). Provide vision and development of the research and/or scholarship endeavors of the division including research initiatives by other members of the PMR division. Engage in advancement of scientific knowledge through rese&ch and/or scholarship. Hold divisional meetings regularly and communicate institutional messages to staff promptly. Provide patient care in the inpatient and ontpatient settings affiliated with a Level I Trauma Center. Support and/or develop the medical education programs and activities of the PMR Division, including but not limited to: Provide direct supervision of trainees and allied health care professionals for the delivery of inpatient and outpatient services when applicable. Participate in the teaching and supervision of trainees and allied health care professionals assigned to the division. Supervise and teach residents and medical students in classroom and clinical settings. Serve the academic community through participations in institutional governance, such as committee work and other administrative duties. Contribute to the community through academically-related public service complementary to the institutional mission. Ensure compliance with HIP AA and billing regulations. Adhere to institutional and departmental policies and procedures. Demonstrate professionalism in accordance with the Paul L. Foster School of Medicine's Declaration of Faculty Professional Responsibility. Bilingual in English/Spanish Established national reputation for the rank of Professor.
