Job Description Contributes to the university’s mission through teaching and service, some variation by academic unit. Supervises residents and medical students in a clinical setting Provides performance evaluations, skill testing, and mentoring of residents, fellows, and medical students Participates in resident and faculty recruitment Attends and participates in morbidity-mortality and journal clubs Provides patient care in the Emergency Department Serves as medical control physician for EI Paso EMS while on duty in the Emergency Department Participates in national emergency medicine societies such as ACEP, SAEM, AAEM Participates in medical research projects relating to emergency medicine Participates in medical school and hospital committees Engages in advancement of scientific knowledge through research and/or scholarship Assists the Department Chair with the implementation of departmental policies and monitoring staffing effectiveness Participates in chart audits and other clinical performance improvement efforts Serves the academic community through participation in institutional governance such as committee work, emergency medicine professional organizations, and other administrative duties Adheres to institutional and departmental policies and procedures Contributes to the community through academically-related public service complementary to the institutional mission Ensures compliance with HIPAA and billing regulations Upholds and promotes the values-based culture of TTUHSC El Paso Demonstrates professionalism in accordance with the Paul L. Foster School of Medicine's Declaration of Faculty Professional Responsibility Experience with education of residents and medical students Evidence of growth in clinical, teaching, and research activities related to the specialty ACLS/PALS/ATLS certifications Board Certification in Emergency Medicine by the American Board of Emergency Medicine or the American Osteopathic Board of Emergency Medicine for the rank of assistant professor or higher Established or emerging regional or national reputation for the rank of associate professor or higher Knowledge of Medical Spanish Pay Statement Compensation is commensurate upon the qualifications of the individual selected and budgetary guidelines of the hiring department, as well as, the institutional pay plan.
