Our Profile In 2020, G Mining Ventures (GMIN) was created to acquire direct ownership of projects and capitalize on the value uplift that successful mine development offers. In July 2024, GMIN acquired the Oko West project. The Oko West Project is a new gold discovery in northwest Guyana. It is located south of the historical “Oko” gold district, some 95 km west of Georgetown. Security Lead The Security Lead is responsible for overseeing all aspects of physical security at the mine site. This includes protecting personnel, assets, and infrastructure from threats such as theft, unauthorized access, and other security breaches. The role requires strong leadership, coordination with local law enforcement or government authorities, and implementation of effective security policies and procedures. Key Responsibilities Supervise and manage a team of security personnel on site. Implement and maintain site-wide security protocols and emergency response procedures. Monitor access control systems and ensure perimeter security is maintained. Conduct regular security audits, inspections, and risk assessments. Investigate incidents, prepare detailed reports, and implement corrective actions. Maintain strong relationships with local communities, law enforcement, and stakeholders to support mine site security. Train staff on security awareness, emergency procedures, and loss prevention. Coordinate vehicle and personnel access to site in compliance with company policies. Respond to emergencies and coordinate response efforts with internal and external teams. Maintain records and ensure compliance with relevant legal, environmental, and safety regulations. Qualifications/Skills and Experience Minimum of 5 years’ experience in security operations, preferably in the mining, oil & gas, or construction sectors. Experience in leadership or supervisory role. Military, police, or private security background is an advantage. Additional Strong leadership and team management skills. Ability to assess risk and implement proactive solutions. Excellent communication and incident reporting skills. Proficient in using CCTV, radio systems, and access control technologies. Knowledge of local laws and regulations related to mine site operations and security. Working Conditions Position based at the OKO Project site. Work Schedule – 14 days on/7 days Off Transport, accommodations, and meals provided on site. Compensation Package 1-year contract for the construction period, with the possibility of a permanent position once the mine is in operation.
