The University of Maryland Capital Region Medical Center is looking for a skilled Full-Time Day Shift Certified Central Sterile Processing Technician to become a valued member of our Central Sterile Processing Department. This is an excellent chance to join a high-achieving perioperative services team committed to providing outstanding patient care.

In this vital position, you will manage the decontamination, inspection, assembly, sterilization, storage, and distribution of surgical instruments and medical devices. Your knowledge will ensure that every procedure starts with safe, properly processed instruments while adhering to AAMI standards, infection control protocols, and departmental guidelines. Additionally, you will assist with case cart preparation, quality assurance testing, and urgent instrument requests that support the smooth and safe functioning of Operating Room activities.

SCHEDULE: | Monday-Friday | 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. | Weekend Rotations & Holidays Required

Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) Certification Required.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

The following duties outline the general scope and level of work performed and are not intended to be an exhaustive list.

• Decontaminate, inspect, assemble, and sterilize surgical instruments, trays, and medical equipment.
• Prepare instrument sets, case carts, and sterile supplies for both scheduled and emergency surgical procedures.
• Examine instruments for cleanliness, functionality, completeness, and sterility prior to distribution.
• Remove, document, and coordinate repairs for damaged instruments.
• Operate and conduct routine quality inspections on sterilization and decontamination equipment.
• Perform biological testing, sterilization monitoring, and maintain quality control records.
• Stock, organize, receive, and distribute sterile supplies throughout the facility.
• Prioritize urgent instrument requests to facilitate emergent patient care.
• Ensure compliance with AAMI standards, infection prevention measures, and patient safety protocols.
• Maintain a clean, orderly, and safe Central Sterile Processing environment.
• Support departmental functions and undertake additional tasks as assigned.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

LICENSURE & EXPERIENCE:

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) certification required.
• Minimum of two (2) years of hospital-based Central Sterile Processing experience required.
• Bilingual candidates are encouraged to apply.

COMPENSATION:

• Pay Range: $21.27 – $34.62 per hour.
• Shift, Weekend, and Holiday Differentials provided where applicable.
