ELL Early Childhood Education Paraeducator (Liberty Elementary School) NEW

  Summer Extended School Year (ESY) staff will support one of these locations: Streamwood High School and Liberty Elementary School.

Two days of professional development are required for summer school.  Those dates are May 28 and May 29. ESY begins on June 2 and ends July 2.

ESY occurs Monday through Thursday with no school on June 19, 2025 to celebrate the Juneteenth holiday.  Staff must be available on all days during the summer school sessions.

ESY staff are expected to be at school 15 minutes prior to the school day and 15 minutes after the school day concludes.
Staff hours:  7:45 am – 11:45 am
Student school day:  8:00 am – 11:30 am

POSITION GOAL(S):

To support the program in providing a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the needs of the children.

To support the classroom teacher in the program he/she has created for the students.

To adhere to published policies and procedures distributed by the district and school.

JOB DUTIES / ACCOUNTABILITIES:

• Implement individual or small group instruction under the direction and/or supervision of a

             certified teacher

• Familiarize self with goals and objectives for students in the classroom

• Facilitate implementation of behavioral programs and procedures

• Document student behavior and learning as directed by the teacher

• Help in loading and unloading student buses during assigned work hours

• Escort students as directed by the classroom teacher

• Other duties as assigned within parameters outlined in collective bargaining agreement

EXPERIENCE / KNOWLEDGE:

• Bilingual in English and Spanish is required.

•  Experience working with students in an educational setting is preferred.

•  Effective communication skills

•  Ability to understand and follow directions

EDUCATION:

• Para Educator, Substitute, or Professional Educator License (PEL) required.

• Minimum education requirement for a Para Educator License is completion of at least 60

            semester hours of college coursework or a passing score on the ETS Para Pro exam or two

            specific Work Keys exams.

• Bilingual – Spanish/English (written/verbal) preferred.

• Ability to work in a fast paced and busy environment.

• Good physical agility and quick response reflexes

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

This is a temporary position. Salary and benefits as established by the Board of Education. U-46 reserves the right to terminate the position by the third day of student attendance if a minimum number of students do not register or enroll.
